About myAIDA

myAIDA is a bilingual, mobile-first financial technology platform built in Tanzania for a mass-market audience. We operate in a regulated environment with a high bar for data accuracy, security and user trust. The team is small and senior; engineers own features end to end, from design through release and support.

Role purpose

Own a consumer mobile application on iOS and Android, built in Flutter — build features, ship store releases, and keep the app fast and reliable on entry-level devices and limited bandwidth. You hold the same security and quality bar as the web platform, and you are accountable for what reaches the stores.

What you'll do

  • Build and release: develop features for both platforms from a single Flutter codebase and manage the full release cycle — signing, store submission, staged rollout and review responses.
  • Mobile security: secure local storage, transport security, biometric unlock, session expiry and automatic logoff, and no credentials or secrets in the shipped binary.
  • Performance: profile and optimise for entry-level Android hardware and intermittent connectivity — offline behaviour, caching, start-up time and app size.
  • Quality: automated widget and integration tests, crash and performance monitoring, and a repeatable CI release pipeline.
  • Deliver full bilingual parity (English and Kiswahili), plus correct handling of international users — time zones, number and currency formats, international phone numbers.
  • Meet store privacy-labelling and data-safety requirements, and keep them accurate as features change.

Must-have

  • 2+ years building mobile apps in Flutter and Dart.
  • At least one Flutter app live on both stores, and the ability to drop to native where needed.
  • State management and clean, testable app architecture.
  • API integration, offline caching and push notifications.
  • Performance profiling on low-end devices; accessibility basics.
  • Professional English; working Kiswahili.

Nice-to-have

  • Native iOS or Android development for platform-specific work.
  • Financial services, payments or another regulated, data-sensitive domain.
  • Payment or wallet SDK integration, including mobile money.
  • Real-time data streaming and charting in mobile interfaces.
  • Mobile application security testing and hardening standards.
  • Analytics, crash reporting and release-health monitoring.

Compliance and conduct

  • Secure handling of personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2022 (Cap. 44), s.27, and internal security and access-control policies.
  • Changes follow a documented change-management and release-approval process for regulated financial services.
  • User-facing copy passes internal review before release — no claims or framing beyond what is approved.
  • Standard clauses: IP assignment, confidentiality, outside-activity disclosure, personal-dealing and conflicts declaration.
